Our pastors should reduce the preaching and focus on youth empowerment and mentor-ship. Words from Nigerian Born, On air personality and master of ceremony, MC Asawana. On his exclusive chat interview with Sammy Sas.

Sammy Sas: Pls can we meet you?

Mc Asawana: My name is Ovioma S. Ewomazino popularly called Mc Asawana, da Laff Sultan, the High Chief of Wazobiamax TV

Sammy Sas: Ose!
Sammy Sas: Oya tell us about your early stage in life growing up?

Mc Asawana: Wow!  Grew up in a Christian home, son of a pastor, everything you do must be in line with the bible. 5boys 1girl and we were just monitored, not to go astray. My passion for entertainment and social life was almost affected due to my father’s belief. We got restricted to so many things. Then i was barred from playing active football, even when scout traced me to the house to  meet my dad. He forced me stopped playing football. Born in Kaduna, spent part of my growing days in Sapele Delta State, school in Zamfara State, served in Oyo State, where i started my passion as a broadcaster with the broadcasting Corporation of OYO state, Ajilete FM Gambari Ogbomoso. Then moved back to Abuja, where i started as a freelance OAP for 3years before landing a job with Cool FM and now Wazobiamax TV.

Mc Asawana: Government policies and technological change

Sammy Sas: What type of music do you listen to?

Mc Asawana: RnB, soft and Hip hop

Sammy Sas: As a pastor son I belief you would have love for Gospel music, so how can you rate the Gospel industry in Nigeria?

Mc Asawana: Below average. What we have now are gospel entertainers, they just do must for commercial purpose not to impact life. The few who uses their music to make impact also, are not ready to make a different, nurture the younger ones and also be fervent. The Church is also not helping matter, they don’t promote and look for people to help rather, they work on already established ones. Two churches in Nigeria we can boldly say promote the best gospel artist in the country are: Christ Embassy and House on the Rock,. They make them and also give them the enabling Environments to be stars in the kingdom, while other churches leverage on this by inviting them, paying them huge amount of money to feature in their programs. Instead of looking inward, promote the young ones, pay for studio sessions, publicity, radio hype and interviews etc.  That’s why when you meet the gospel artist, they are so dependent on God, every time they’ll tell you God bless you for supporting my career. Unlike the secular art, they want to blow, they do anything needed to bring them to the spotlight
