Inside spectacular staycation suites available at NYC’s top hotels this holiday season
It’s no secret the holidays are going to look different this year.
Big get-togethers and long getaways will likely be on hold and many traditional attractions are canceled. But some of New York City’s top hotels turned those restrictions into over-the-top staycations.
Properties across Manhattan are offering up their most lavish suites for families who want to have a festive, homey experience without the hassle (or risk) of hosting from your apartment.
Think in-room pre-decorated Christmas trees, intimate catered meals, visits from Santa and even private performances. There’s nothing these hotels haven’t thought of to help you host the most luxuriously safe celebration.
In fact, it might just become a new family tradition.
Season of sparkle
A complimentary diamond ring from famous jewelry designer Martin Katz is just the beginning of what comes with the Lotte New York Palace hotel‘s Jewel Suite.
As its name suggests, the 5,000-square-foot accommodation was designed to be the epitome of glamour with details like a two-story crystal chandelier, a display case of $1.5 million worth of jewelry, and floor-to-ceiling windows that look out to the sparkling lights of the Manhattan skyline.
The room also comes with a 24/7 dedicated butler service, a private consultation with Martin Katz or an associate, and a private elevator, so you never have to see another guest.
And during the holidays, the kids can write letters to Santa, which will be personally responded to and left in the room as a holiday treasure. Rates starts at $25,000 a night
Sky-high skating
Time-honored traditions like the ballerinas performing the Nutcracker at Lincoln Center are sadly not happening this year.
So, The Mark hotel on the Upper East Side is bringing them to you. Yes, their Penthouse Holiday Spectacular is the ultimate holiday staycation complete with a four-course meal prepared by Jean-Georges Vongerichten, sing along with a Juilliard-trained pianist, and the classic holiday ballet performed in the 10,000-plus-square-foot decorated penthouse.
Shopping is also taken care of as the package includes after-hours access to Bergdorf Goodman. The best part? The hotel converted the suite’s sprawling terrace into a private skating rink that overlooks Central Park. The experience will set you back $175,000.
Merry mansion
Why settle for one hotel suite this holiday when you could have 11? That’s precisely what the Baccarat Hotel is offering with its new Maison Privé option.
With this package, you take over the entire top floor, which includes the hotel’s premier Baccarat Suite, as well as two additional suites and eight other accommodations at a cost of $50,000 per night.
During your stay at the five-star midtown property, you’ll be treated to a holiday brunch created by two-time, Michelin-starred Culinary Director Gabriel Kreuther, a Christmas tree in each accommodation, complimentary treatments at the country’s only Spa De La Mer and, of course, a Baccarat keepsake crystal gift.
And whenever the mood strikes to toast, simply hit the phone button marked “Champagne” and a bottle with signature Baccarat fluted glasses will arrive at your door within moments.
Local luxury
While Manhattan is typically a hot spot for out of towners during the holidays, the NoMad New York wanted to offer a special treat to locals this season after everything they’ve been through.
People in the city and the tri-state area who can provide proof of residence upon check-in get a special rate on The Suite Royale.
Instead of coughing up the $2,400 a night, it costs just $2,000 a night to enjoy the 1,800-square-foot suite that features a private terrace.
Open presents in the separate living room, order room service to be delivered to the private dining room, and soak in the perfect staycation from the king bedroom. Bonus: the local rate is also available for the 1,100-square-foot NoMad Suite — $1,700 a night compared to the usual $2,100.
